Thirst No More
At Urban Empact, we recognize the critical importance of hydration, particularly for those facing homelessness. Our "Thirst No More" initiative ensures that individuals in the Triangle area who are unhoused have access to the water and sports drinks they need to stay healthy. Hydration is key to preventing heat exhaustion, fatigue, and other health risks associated with dehydration, making it a vital aspect of well-being.
Within the 3rd and 4th Quarter of this year, we’ve distributed over 14,500 bottles of water and sports drinks to those in need throughout the Triangle. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that no one goes thirsty and that everyone has access to the hydration they deserve each day.

Senior Grocery Program
This program is available to low-income, non-mobile seniors aged 65 and older within the Akron service area. It is designed to address the nutritional needs of seniors by providing grocery options that are low in sodium, sugar, and fat.
In 2022, Urban Empact proudly distributed 100 grocery bags to seniors in need, ensuring access to healthier food choices and supporting their overall well-being.
Shoes for the Homeless
Walking serves as the primary mode of transportation for the homeless, and the absence of suitable shoes significantly hinders their mobility. In addition to providing comfort and protection against environmental conditions, shoes play a vital role in preventing various foot-related health problems.
Having a high-quality pair of shoes often leads to an improved quality of life and increased self-confidence. In some cases, this positive transformation has opened doors to employment opportunities and raised living standards. We envision a future where every homeless person, regardless of age or gender, has access to quality footwear, empowering them with the confidence to move forward into a more promising future.
All forms of assistance and involvement are welcome.
Supply Drive
Since 2019, Urban Empact has provided hundreds of school supplies to scholars in need across Eastern North Carolina and the Triangle area, showcasing our dedication to supporting educators and young learners.
In Summer 2024, Urban Empact donated essential items—crayons, colored markers, glue sticks, pencils, sanitizer, and copy paper—to Y.E. Smith Elementary School in East Durham. This effort aimed to ease the burden on teachers facing state budget challenges and to equip students with the tools necessary for success.
